Captions for Recorded Videos

 

There are many tools to create and provide streaming access for instructor-created video content. Here are some instructions for adding automatic closed captions for some of the University-supported technology tools.

  • Panopto - this is a great tool for creating, editing, storing, and streaming video content that works well with Moodle.
  • Microsoft Stream - this is Microsoft's video program, now paired with ClipChamp. Any recorded Teams meeting will automatically be available on Stream for editing, storing, and streaming.

 

Captions for Live Videos

 

In a live recording or a synchronous meeting with students, it is helpful to know how to provide real-time, live captions. This can be achieved using the University-supported webconferencing tools below. Click the name of the tool for instructions on adding live captions:

 

 

  • Zoom - this is a web conferencing tool that can be integrated into Moodle.
  • Microsoft Teams - this robust tool allows for webconferencing, messaging, file-sharing, and many more functions within the Microsoft family of products.
