Game map consists of stages that you can arrange on top of a background image. Each stage is connected to one or more stages and can hold an H5P content type for the user to view or complete. You can define rules that will determine what stage the user is allowed to move to, so you can create a game-like experience.

Get started


1. Log into your Moodle course, select Menu, Site pages, to access the Content bank




2. Once in the Content Bank, click the Add button




3. Find Game Map in the list of Activities to open the Editing menu



4. Complete the Title,  Show title screen (optional) ,Headline (optional)  




5.  Step 1- Add a Background image - this image will be the main image for your game.




6. Go to Step 2 - Game Map.  You will see the Background image on display.  Click the icon in the top left corner to add content. 


 



7. Stage label.  Give the label a name.  Select User can start here if this is the first label.  There are optional Time limit and Access restrictions, click the arrow next to each to view the options.


 


8. Choose the stage content to add to this label.  The panels for the specific content chosen will appear with options to complete.  



 



Note: The first stage will have no connections, but the next stages can be connected to previous stages.


9. Press the Done button to return to the Game Map.


10. A yellow circle will now appear on the page.    Move the label to the Starting location. Notice the move, edit, and delete icons for available for each label.




11.  Continue adding labels with content to each stage. (7-10).  There can be a start and an end to the game if connections were chosen in the Stage label.




12.  When the Game Map is complete, review the other settings available and select options as needed, then Save when complete.

13. Once the Game map is incorporated into your Moodle Course, the students will see the activity with a menu in the top right corner, they must click the flag icon to submit their results.
