Starting with the 2025 Winter Intersession, the default Moodle course shell format will switch from Collapsed Topics to Topics. Although the two formats are very similar, there are a few key differences to note.

1. General / Module 0

In the Collapsed Topics format, the area at the very top of Moodle course pages (known as the "General Section" or "Module 0") can not be collapsed like other sections/modules in the course. In the Topics format, this area can be collapsed like the others.

2. Expand All / Collapse All Section Toggle

In the Collapsed Topics format, the toggle to expand or collapse all course sections/modules is located just below the General/Module 0 area at the top of the Moodle course page. In the Topics format, this toggle is located at the top-right of the Moodle course page.
